Injury Expert Predicts How Long Lisandro Martinez Will be Out For

A football injury specialist has provided a concerning prognosis for Lisandro Martinez after he was stretchered off during Manchester United’s 2-0 defeat to Crystal Palace. The setback adds to the club’s woes as their struggles continue this season.

Ruben Amorim’s team faced Crystal Palace at Old Trafford on Sunday, suffering a disappointing loss courtesy of a Jean-Philippe Mateta brace. This defeat marked their seventh in 13 Premier League matches since the Portuguese manager took charge in November, leaving them in 13th place and increasing speculation about his future. Despite his recent appointment, Amorim is already among the frontrunners to be dismissed next in the league.

To make matters worse, Martinez sustained an injury late in the game. The Argentine defender clashed with Ismaila Sarr in the 76th minute, appearing to suffer a knee issue. Unable to continue, he left the pitch in tears in the 82nd minute, raising concerns about the severity of his condition.

Following the incident, injury expert Physio Scout took to X (formerly Twitter) to analyze the footage and assess the possible extent of Martinez’s injury. Their evaluation suggested that the issue might be related to the ACL—a diagnosis that could sideline the centre-back for at least nine months if confirmed.

However, there remains a glimmer of hope for Manchester United and Martinez, as the expert also indicated that the injury could potentially be a bone bruise or meniscus-related rather than an ACL tear. The true extent of the damage will become clearer with further medical assessments.
