That’s how good he is – Former Man United striker told Amorim to resign Pogba
Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha has advised his former club to bring back French midfielder Paul Pogba once his doping suspension concludes in March this year. Saha, speaking to Spaceportsweden.com (via Goal), emphasized that if Pogba is available, the Red Devils should not hesitate to secure his return.
Pogba, who has endured a tumultuous career marked by moments of brilliance and controversy, has already had two separate stints at Old Trafford. He first emerged from Manchester United’s academy, making his senior debut in 2011 before departing for Juventus. After a successful spell in Turin, he rejoined the Premier League giants in 2016 for a then-world record fee. However, his second tenure was marred by inconsistency and a strained relationship with former manager José Mourinho. Between both spells, Pogba accumulated 233 appearances across all competitions, contributing 39 goals and 48 assists.
The 2018 World Cup winner seemed to be rediscovering his form at Juventus before being handed a doping suspension in September 2023. Now, as the end of his ban approaches, speculation over his next move is intensifying.
Saha, who played for Manchester United between 2004 and 2008, believes Pogba still possesses the quality to make an instant impact. “I think it’s gonna be an interesting few days for Paul as the transfer window comes to a close. He needs a club, that’s for sure,” Saha stated. “He’s on the free, so in many ways that takes a bit of the pressure off him because he can sign for a club when the transfer window closes. But from Paul’s perspective, he will want to get onto the grass with his new teammates in training as quickly as possible.”
The former French striker also highlighted Pogba’s undeniable talent when in peak condition. “But if Paul Pogba is available, believe me, I would love to see him back at United at this moment in time. That’s how good he is. When he is fit and firing, he could go into the Manchester United squad and become one of the best players quite quickly.”
Manchester United’s midfield has faced challenges this season, with injuries and inconsistent performances impacting their campaign. The prospect of reintegrating a fully fit and motivated Pogba could provide a significant boost. However, questions remain over whether the club’s hierarchy would be willing to take a gamble on the 30-year-old after his controversial exit in 2022.
With the countdown to Pogba’s return to professional football underway, it remains to be seen whether Manchester United will heed Saha’s advice and pursue a sensational reunion with their former star.
