Fans blast Jadon Sancho for ranked former Manchester United midfielder above Jay Jay Okocha in terms of skill



Fans on social media have voiced their disappointment with England star Jadon Sancho after he ranked former Manchester United midfielder Nani above Nigerian legend Jay Jay Okocha in terms of skill.

Sancho, who is currently on loan at Chelsea, expressed his opinion during a player comparison discussion, sparking a debate among football enthusiasts. Many fans believe Okocha’s exceptional skill set deserved more recognition.

Jay Jay Okocha, a revered figure in Nigerian football, made a lasting impact during his time in the English Premier League, playing for Bolton Wanderers between 2002 and 2006. Before joining Bolton, he had captained Nigeria at the 1998 FIFA World Cup in Japan and South Korea. His arrival at Bolton on a two-year deal was a major boost for the club, with manager Sam Allardyce telling the club's official website, as quoted by the Irish Times: "I'm absolutely delighted to bring Jay Jay to Bolton. He is a player with tremendous ability and one of great experience at domestic and international levels. He'll be a marvellous addition to our team."

Although injuries affected his debut season, Okocha quickly won over fans, earning the iconic nickname "Jay-Jay – so good they named him twice." During his stint at Bolton, he scored 18 goals in 142 appearances across all competitions before moving to Hull City in 2007. Renowned for his dazzling skills and creative flair, Okocha is widely regarded as one of the most skilful footballers in history.

Sancho's decision to choose Nani over Okocha in the skill department, as seen in footage shared by Sky Sports, has not sat well with many fans. 

Critics argue that Okocha’s legacy and influence in football, particularly his mastery of tricks and flair, surpass that of the Portuguese star.
